Greg Jones, outfielders Hill Alexander and Garrett Hiott, infielders Jacson McGowan and Nick Sogard, and pitcher Joe LaSorsa were named New York-Penn League All-Stars Thursday. The game will be played in Staten Island on Aug. 20.
I’m not an avid NYPL follower, so maybe there are a lot of deserving pitchers I’m not aware of. However, Edisson Gonzalez seems like an odd omission. He’s sixth in the league in ERA, third in strikeouts, and only has 10 walks in 51 1⁄3 innings. He’s had a fine season.
