Rays' offense yet to show spark; Blue Jays win again, 5-3

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays opened the 2015 season with two straight losses, and one member of the Rays front office said before Sunday’s season opener that it felt as if they were 0-20.

And that was with three starting pitchers on the disabled list and a designated hitter and first baseman about to join them.

This year, with nearly everyone healthy, the Rays are off to the same start after Monday’s 5-3 loss to the visiting Blue Jays in front of 15,116 at Tropiana Field.

This has to feel a bit worse, since Chris Archer and Drew Smyly took the losses and the new-look offense hasn’t exactly produced the way the Rays had hoped.
