NEW YORK — 1B Logan Morrison took early batting practice Friday, working on the swing he used for most of his career. Morrison said he tweaked that before spring training, and it worked during the Grapefruit League season.
“But when guys are actually trying to get me out, didn’t go into the game so well,” he said.
Morrison, who did not start Friday for the second straight game because the Rays were facing a left-handed starter, has two hits — both singles — in his first 40 at-bats this season. He also struck out 17 times.
To state the obvious, this is not the start Morrison envisioned, especially since he’s joining a new team.
