ST. PETERSBURG — Last week, Rays manager Kevin Cash said he was reluctant to drop 1B Logan Morrison from the No. 2 spot in the order against right-handed pitchers because he didn’t think he had a suitable left-handed batting replacement. On Tuesday, Cash found one: SS Brad Miller.
Morrison was dropped to Miller’s sixth spot in the order.
“I don’t have the greatest explanation for it,” Cash said. “You’re taking two guys that probably haven’t swung the bat the way they’re capable of, but the hope is it’s just a different look and a different spot in the order and somebody catches fire.
