ST. PETERSBURG – 1B James Loney (fractured left middle finger) will likely return to the lineup Friday when the Rays begin a seven-game road trip with the first of three games against the Yankees in New York.
The Rays optioned 1B Marc Krauss to Triple A Durham after Wednesday’s 8-1 loss to the visiting Indians, clearing a roster spot for LHP Matt Moore, who returns to the mound today after missing the last 14 months while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow.
This leaves the Rays with only INF Jake Elmore to play first base today.
