ST. PETERSBURG — The disappointing season for LF Desmond Jennings continued Thursday when he returned to the 15-day disabled list with another left knee injury.
This one is a bruise suffered Saturday while sliding into second base after hitting a double at Oakland. It’s a new injury to the same knee that forced him to miss 96 games this year, first with bursitis and then with the rehab after having arthroscopic surgery. The latest injury is not thought to be as serious as the first.
“I think the thought process was, we’d rather give him 15 full days off than chance it after five days and reinjure it,” manager Kevin Cash said.
