FORT MYERS — RHP Jake Faria waited two games plus seven innings to finally pitch in his first game during his first big league spring training camp.
Nervous?
“Everything felt good,” he said. “The biggest thing I was worried about was not tripping on the way out to the mound, honestly.”
Faria handled that with ease, as he did facing the Red Sox in the eighth inning of Friday’s 7-2 loss. He retired the side in order with a strikeout, a fly ball and a groundout.
“I thought he looked very good,” manager Kevin Cash said.
