Rays Notes: Cuban protester arrested after running onto field

BRADENTON — An elderly fan ran onto the field in front of the Rays dugout during the seventh inning Saturday night, apparently yelling something in Spanish about the club’s recent trip to Cuba.

After throwing two bottles — some witnesses said it was beer, some said it was beer and soda — he was restrained by third base coach Charlie Montoyo, who held him until two members of the Bradenton Police Department arrived and escorted him off the field.

“I don’t know where the security guards were, but Charlie recognized him quick enough to get over there,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said.
