ST. PETERSBURG — Rays RHP Chris Archer takes the mound Thursday afternoon for his third start of the season looking for only one thing from himself: He wants to execute his pitches at a higher level than he did in his previous outings.
His fastball command was off early in his first start, and his slider lacked its usual bite during his second start Friday in Baltimore.
Archer, who hasn’t won since Aug. 31, said he will approach the Indians lineup like he does every other team. He’ll pound the strike zone and trust that his pitches will be sharp.
