BOSTON — RHP Chris Archer, who takes the mound tonight looking for his first win since Aug. 31, said he hasn’t been himself this season.
“I look back, I haven’t had my ‘A’ slider yet, and I still had some pretty decent results,” he said. “I’m thinking that I can definitely use my changeup a little more. My fastball has been OK, but I think at the end of the day, the sharpness of my slider has been the difference-maker.”
Archer is not getting the sharp break at the end of the slider. Hitters are recognizing it earlier and laying off it as it crosses the plate under the strike zone.
