PORT CHARLOTTE — LHP Blake Snell, RHP Taylor Guerrieri and RHP Jake Faria were among the 13 players sent to minor-league camp Tuesday as the Rays made their first cuts of the spring.
Snell, Guerrieri, Faria and INF Ryan Brett were optioned to minor-league camp. RHP Eddie Gamboa, LHP Justin Marks, RHP Adam Reifer, RHP Jamie Schultz, C Jake DePew, OF Johnny Field, 3B Patrick Leonard, SS Daniel Robertson and OF Dayron Varona were reassigned to camp.
“(Minor league) games start there (today) and they need to play,” manager Kevin Cash said. “Their priority is getting at-bats and innings just like our priorities are for some of our guys that we know will be with us.
