Rays notebook: Longoria seeks more production

ST. PETERSBURG — On Sunday, for the second time in two days, 3B Evan Longoria tied the game in the sixth inning with a solo home run.

He now has five for the season, tying him with RF Steve Souza Jr. and DH Corey Dickerson for the team lead.

More importantly, the power has returned to Longoria’s swing. At this time last season, he had only one home run.

“I’ve always said you can’t really swing for them, they kind of just come,” Longoria said. “I’m hitting mistakes better at this point, but I’d like them to come with some runners in scoring position.
