Rays’ Mike Zunino hopes to find his swing against familiar foe

ST. PETERSBURG — Mike Zunino has yet to make his presence felt in the Rays’ lineup.

The catcher, currently in his first season in Tampa Bay, has struggled to bring his bat across the country from Seattle. Zunino spent the first six years of his career with the Mariners, and his offense rounded into form as he posted a .763 OPS in 292 games from 2016 to 2018.

That presence at the plate has not translated to Tampa Bay, where Zunino has put up a .559 OPS entering play Friday night. He is hitting .180 with only three home runs for the Rays.
