ST. PETERSBURG – Center fielder Kevin Kiermaier and second baseman Logan Forsythe left tonight’s game after colliding in short right field in the top of the fourth inning.
Forsythe’s head or shoulder hit Kiermaier’s head. Forsythe has a bruised left lower leg and left hip. Kiermaier is still being evaluated
The two players were trying to catch a fly ball hit by White Sox designated hitter Avisail Garcia.
Forsythe caught the ball then ran into Kiermaier.
Both players went down, but Forsythe soon stood up and limped off the field.
Kiermaier remained down for several minutes while he was attended to by Rays athletic trainers Ron Poertfield and Mark Vinson.
