The Rays and left-hander Xavier Cedeno have avoided arbitration and settled on a $1.3 million contract for 2017, according to a report from MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman on Friday. The club has not confirmed the report.
Cedeno posted a 3.70 ERA in 54 relief appearances for Tampa Bay last season, with 43 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings. The 30-year-old has been effective since the Rays acquired him early in the 2015 season, with a 2.88 ERA in 115 outings with the team.
