Rays 2, Yankees 0: Rays go the extra mile in the Bronx

For the second time in as many starts, Zach Eflin did not allow the opposition to plate a run. Eflin dazzled through six scoreless innings, striking out six and only giving up three hits.

Of any team Eflin has made at least five starts against, his 1.54 ERA against the Bronx Bombers is the lowest.

“Nasty Nestor” indeed lived up to his nickname, as Cortes went seven scoreless, striking out nine and allowing six hits.

Alas, it took an extra frame, but Jose Caballero would double in pinch-runner Richie Palacios and give the Rays the lead that they would hold on to for good, defeating the Yankees 2-0.
