Protégé faces mentor as Rays' Archer duels with Jays' Price

TORONTO — Tampa Bay Rays’ starter Chris Archer, microphone in hand, cameraman in tow, pushed his way into the media scrum surrounding former teammate David Price on Friday and fired off a few questions.

One had to be asked.

“David, what does it feel like to know you’re going to pitch against your protégé, Chris Archer, (today)?”

“Terrified, man,” Price said. “It’s going to be nerve-wracking.”

He was joking.

Price, the ace of the Blue Jays’ staff since his July 30 trade from Detroit to Toronto, is matched against Archer, the ace of the Rays’ staff, this afternoon at Rogers Centre (WDAE 620 AM, 95.
