TORONTO — It’s an oft-told story, and Chris Archer told it again Friday about the first time he met David Price.
The two were working out at Vanderbilt in January 2008. Price was the top pick in the draft the previous June. Archer had just completed his third minor-league season. Archer introduced himself to Price. The two chatted. Price doesn’t remember the encounter, but it was a big moment for Archer.
“He was everything I wanted to be,” Archer said.
The two met again Saturday near the center-field wall at Rogers Centre, a litte more than a half-hour before they would face each other for the first time in their careers.
