PORT CHARLOTTE — Kevin Cash was walking off the practice field Thursday at the Rays’ Charlotte Sports Complex when he came across relief pitchers Alex Colome and Xavier Cedeno throwing in the outfield. They hugged and talked about their offseasons.
“There’s a lot of energy, whereas last year there was more shaking hands and introducing (ourselves),” Cash said.
Already, things are different around Rays camp.
Cash is in his second year as manager. President of baseball operations Matt Silverman and his staff are in their second year running the shop.
But one thing remains constant: The Rays believe they will field a team that will play meaningful games in September.
