BOSTON -- Rays starter Jake Odorizzi was removed from Saturday's start versus the Red Sox after experiencing left hamstring tightness on the first pitch of the bottom of the second inning.
Facing Mitch Moreland, the Tampa Bay starter missed with a splitter inside and showed some distress, which prompted head trainer Ron Porterfield to come out and check on him.
Odorizzi then took two warmup pitches to test the hamstring, but he seemed to wince in pain on both and looked dejected as he walked to the dugout, unable to continue.
Erasmo Ramirez entered in relief and allowed a first-pitch home run to Moreland.
