Rays
ST. PETERSBURG — Raise your hand if you’ve heard this one before: Jake Odorizzi deserved better.
Much better.
Odorizzi pitched well enough to win — one earned run over seven innings. He didn’t, because his offense just couldn’t come up the big hit, and the Rays had a number of chances when one hit would have tipped the scales in Odorizzi’s favor.
The Mariners extended the Rays’ losing streak to three with a 4-1 win Monday in front of a Memorial Day night crowd of 10,401 at Tropicana Field.
Odorizzi had a rough start to the night, though.
