Newly acquired Tyler Glasnow, Tommy Pham get thrown right into Rays mix

ST. PETERSBURG — First impressions of the two new Rays weren't hard to come by in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Angels.

Tyler Glasnow, the pitcher acquired from Pittsburgh, throws hard. That was clear from the start of his three-inning outing, given the radar gun showing 96 mph and up on 80 percent of his fastballs, and the exasperated look of some Los Angeles swingers.

Tommy Pham, the outfielder acquired from St. Louis, plays hard. That was evident even earlier, from a terse pregame interview he cut short to get prepared, to the way he swung the bat and ran the bases.
