With Kyle Gibson set to be activated from the disabled list to start on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Minnesota Twins will send veteran right-hander Phil Hughes to the bullpen, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com writes.
"Kyle, we feel, is ready to help us," manager Paul Molitor said. "We have a five-man rotation, not six, so we had to make a decision."
Hughes is 1-7 with a 5.74 ERA in 10 starts this season. The 29-year-old had a great first season with the Twins in 2014 but regressed in 2015, allowing a league-leading 29 home runs.
