Any speculation of a trade for a veteran catcher seems to involve Jonathan Lucroy, who remains a very valuable trade chip for the rebuilding Milwaukee Brewers. Could the Tampa Bay Rays be a suitor at some point?
“If the Rays are serious about making a playoffs run, maybe they should more seriously consider a trade for Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy,” suggests Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. “Even if the price is a couple of elite prospects.”
There has been no report of any talks between the teams, but a fit on Florida’s Gulf Coast is plausible given the Rays have received limited production from catchers Curt Casali and Hank Conger.
