Marc Topkin’s takeaways from the Rays’ 5-2 Saturday win over Rangers:
* Brendan McKay wasn’t the whole story as the Rays showed some much needed spark offensively. A three-run rally in the second started when Yandy Diaz snapped an 0-for-11 with a double, warming Joey Wendle doubled and Avisail Garcia ended an 0-for-17 with his first homer since June 4. In the seventh, Willy Adames and Travis d’Arnaud hit back to back homers.
* The Rays played Friday like they’d been on a country-crossing road trip and didn’t get back until 2 in the morning, which they had.
