The Rays third baseman appeared to injure his thumb during the Indians' five-run fifth when Giovanny Urshela smoked a single off Longoria's glove.

Longoria grimaced after the play and clearly was uncomfortable, prompting a visit on the field from the Rays' trainer. After a brief examination, he remained in the game.

Longoria was replaced by Trevor Plouffe in the top of the sixth inning.
