Here’s the catch: Travis d’Arnaud makes debut at first

ST. PETERSBURG u2015 One the Rays’ more pleasant surprises of 2019 embarked on his quest to be one of their more versatile ones as well.

Catcher Travis d’Arnaud started at first base, providing another right-handed bat u2015 not to mention a hot one u2015 against Angels lefty Tyler Skaggs. It was his first game at the position since 2012, when he played two games there for the Blue Jays’ Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas.

“It’s something that you give Travis a lot of credit,” said manager Kevin Cash, who watched d’Arnaud record multiple hits in three of his previous four games.
