Most Rays fans know Taylor Motter as the rookie utility player with the long Thor-like hair. He is also the only active player among approximately 800 big leaguers who went to tiny Coastal Carolina.
On Thursday afternoon, Coastal Carolina won their first championship in any sport when they beat Arizona in Game 3 of the College World Series championship series. The final out came during warmups and the Rays put the game up on the outfield videoboard and Motter watched from center field.
