ST. PETERSBURG -- Rays second baseman Logan Forsythe was scratched from the starting lineup on Tuesday with back spasms, the team announced before the game. Nick Franklin took over at second and batted leadoff.

Forsythe had five home runs in the past nine games, including a long two-run shot on Monday night. The extent of the injury is unknown. On the season, he's hitting .280 with 15 home runs and 38 RBIs.
