The Gatorade Player of the Year in Georgia, Lowe, a third baseman from Pope High School, led his team to the Georgia 6A championship game. The 18-year-old had committed to play for Florida State, but instead opted to sign with the Rays.

Lowe, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound left-handed hitter, has raw power and plus speed. He is also capable of playing center field.

Lowe's brother, Nathaniel, drafted by the Rays in the 13th round, is also expected to sign with the team.
