C.J. Cron can’t lay off the inside fastball

C.J. Cron has been more or less what the Rays expected. He strikes out like a first baseman, but doesn’t walk like one. Has tons of raw power, but doesn’t always show it. He’s a flawed, yet interesting player. Once the best hitting prospect in the 2011 draft class, at age 28 he now holds a career 108 wRC+, and has yet to top 450 plate appearances in any single season.

So while there’s still potential in Cron’s bat, I don’t exactly see him as a building block. Not sure anyone does anymore.
