Former BC High and current UConn slugger Bobby Melley received the call he seemingly waited hours for on Saturday afternoon as he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 34th round with the 1020th overall pick.

Melley had another monster at the plate for the Huskies in 2016, hitting .313 with 11 home runs and 55 RBIs. Additionally, Melley led the Huskies with a .483 on-base percentage and a .962 OPS.

Despite the fact that he was expecting to get drafted earlier, Melley admits it is a big relief that the whole process has officially come to an end.
