ST. PETERSBURG -- One day after feeling extreme pain running down the third-base line, Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.
Cabrera was removed from Saturday's game in the second inning after pulling up on his way home on Rene Rivera's two-run single. Shortly after crossing home plate, he collapsed near the Rays' on-deck circle, grabbing at his leg, and eventually limped off into the clubhouse where team doctor's checked on him.
"Before I get to third, I do a big jump to get the base," said Cabrera following the Rays' 3-0 victory over the Astros.
