On Sunday against the Red Sox, Castillo threw a perfect seventh inning on eight pitches. His last seven appearances (two starts) and nine of his last 10 appearances have been scoreless after allowing multiple runs in four of his previous five.
The southpaw was lights out in his last start Thursday at Marlins Park in Miami. Newcomb tossed six shutout frames, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. It was his 11th win of the season.
