ST. PETERSBURG -- Thursday will mark three weeks since closer Brad Boxberger underwent abductor surgery, and according to the eight-week timeline laid out for his recovery, he should be back pitching with the team by mid-May.
Boxberger played catch for the second time on Sunday, and as he told reporters on Monday, "Everything is going as planned right now."
"Feeling stronger and stronger every day," he said. "Feeling better each day, so the progression is going well. So we're on target for where we ought to be right now."
Boxberger answered "probably" when asked if he'll need a rehab assignment before returning, but he isn't sure.
