ARLINGTON, Texas — Blake Snell is still focused on smaller numbers that can have a larger impact, specifically the 61/2 games his Rays are behind the A's for the final American League playoff spot after a 3-0 victory over the Rangers on Monday.
"We've still got a shot,'' he said, "and I still look at it like we can do it.''
But when Snell takes the mound Tuesday against the Rangers, he will be staring at a pretty big — and historically more significant — number:
20.
As in 20 wins for the season, which would make him just the second pitcher in Rays history to reach that hallowed milestone.
