In the ninth, O's leadoff batter Joey Rickard reached on Beckham's throwing error. Evan Longoria then came to the Rays' rescue, stabbing Adam Jones' hot shot to third base before starting a 5-4-3 double play. That turned out to be a huge play since Manny Machado and Schoop followed with singles against closer Alex Colome to put runners at the corners. Colome then retired Mark Trumbo on a fielder's choice to shortstop to end the game.
Mallex Smith had an RBI single and Jesus Sucre added a sacrifice fly before Beckham unloaded on a 1-0 offering from O's starter Wade Miley with two on in the second.
