Beckham receives first career ejection vs. A's

OAKLAND -- Rays infielder Tim Beckham was ejected for the first time in his career in the middle of the fourth inning Monday night in Oakland.

Beckham was called out on strikes by umpire Lance Barrett in the top of the fourth and appeared to disagree with the call. While Beckham returned to the dugout, he continued to protest the call as he went out to second base for the bottom of the fourth, leading to the ejection.

With Brad Miller in the lineup as the designated hitter, the Rays put Trevor Plouffe at second base in Beckham's place for his first appearance there in five years.
