The 28-year-old left a 92.4-mph fastball over the plate to Hanson, who hit the ball 386 feet, according to Statcast™, into the right-field seats. Archer then left a 92.3-mph fastball up in the strike zone, which Sanchez knocked a Statcast-projected 390 feet out to right.
Archer became the third pitcher in Rays history to allow back-to-back homers to start a game, joining Alex Cobb on May 23 and Victor Zambrano on April 6, 2003.
After missing low on a 96-mph fastball to Avisail Garcia, Archer signaled toward the Rays dugout, which brought out manager Kevin Cash and trainer Ron Porterfield.
