Adames making strong impression

Adames came to the Rays from Detroit in the trade that sent David Price to the Tigers. He took over shortstop at Double-A Montgomery last season and became a Southern League All-Star, hitting .274 with 11 home runs and 57 RBIs in 132 games for the Biscuits.

Rays farm director Mitch Lukevics said he has seen a steady progression from Adames.

"He's more consistent from the time that we saw him in Bowling Green to his year last year at Montgomery," Lukevics said. "He just has better strike zone awareness. He knows the different angles of a ground ball better.
