Stamkos knows it's time to lead way

Tampa Bay Lightning

DETROIT — The spotlight tends to find the biggest stars, in good times and bad. And in the postseason, when the light shines brightest, the glare can be blinding.

So, when the heavily favored Lightning fell behind 2-1 in their opening-round series against Detroit, and got shut out in a Game 3 loss, the spotlight found Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos.

It’s natural. Stamkos is the focal point of the highest-scoring team in the league. During the regular season, he finished second in the league with 43 goals. He has won the Rocket Richard Trophy twice and reached the 40-goal plateau four times in his career.
