Skid continues as Penguins topple Lightning 4-3

The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in Tampa Saturday night.

It’s tempting to look at the final score and even the fact that they held a two-goal lead over the defending Stanley Cup Champions and think that the Lightning are thisclose to snapping out of this now-extended malaise. Especially in comparison with the all-out debacle that was Thursday’s 5-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. However, to do so would be to ignore the persistent turnovers, misfiring offense and inconsistent effort all on display in this game, all of which have been factors that have put them in this position of having lost seven of their last nine games (one in overtime).
