Tampa Bay Lightning
TAMPA — He’s affectionately known as “King Henrik’’ among fans of the New York Rangers, but goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been anything but regal against the Lightning in recent games.
Few in the sellout crowd of 19,204 on Wednesday night at Amalie Arena anticipated a shootout duel between two Eastern Conference powers that have relied on stout goaltending throughout the postseason.
Lundqvist had allowed only 21 goals in New York’s first 13 playoff games before the Lightning beat him six times at Madison Square Garden in Game 2. Tampa Bay matched that total in Game 3, winning 6-5 on Nikita Kucherov’s goal at 3:33 of overtime.
