Before we get to the game, our very own Yanni Gourde was named Rookie of the Month for February. With five goals and 11 assists in only 14 games, it was Gourde’s jack-of-all-trades versatility that put him above the rest. [NHL dot com]
Gourde registered at least one point in 12 of his 14 February appearances, highlighted by a seven-game streak to open the month (Feb. 1-13: 5-5-10). He also led all rookies with three power-play goals, six power-play points (3-3-6) and a +8 rating (tied).
