TAMPA — The Lightning will move on to the next round.
Tampa Bay survived a second consecutive elimination game to defeat Detroit 2-0 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quartfinal in front of a sold out crowd of 19,204 at Amalie Arena.
Ben Bishop finished with 31 saves while Braydon Coburn, acquired from Philadelphia at the trade deadline, scored for Tampa Bay. Anton Stralman scored into an empty net with 1:18 left to provide an insurance goal.
Detroit rookie Petr Mrazek finished with 15 saves to take the loss.
The Lightning will face off against Montreal in the next round, with Game 1 scheduled for Friday at Bell Centre.
