No magic tonight: Bolts shut out in Game 5

Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA — Poof.

Whatever magic the Lightning thought they had following a dramatic overtime victory vanished like a puff of white smoke on Saturday.

Tampa Bay was shut out for the second time in three games and dropped Game 5 to Detroit 4-0 in front of a soldout crowd of 19,204 at Amalie Arena.

The Red Wings carry a 3-2 series lead back to Detroit and can end the Lightning’s season on Monday at Joe Louis Arena.

Petr Mrazek finished with 28 saves for the victory. Riley Sheahan and Pavel Datsyuk scored power play goals for Detroit while Drew Miller added his first of the series.
