It’s been a good week for Gage Goncalves. A day after being named to his first AHL All-Star team, the 22-year-old forward was recalled to the Tampa Bay Lightning. With Tanner Jeannot likely to miss a couple of weeks with an undisclosed injury, the team had an opening on the roster and it appears Goncalves will make his debut against the New Jersey Devils.
The winger skated on a line with Tyler Motte and Conor Sheary during the morning skate with Alex Barré-Boulet as the odd forward out. Goncalves brings a little speed and tenacity to the roster and projects to be a middle-six forward in the league.
