Lack of trades prove Bolts trust current roster

OTTAWA — Going forward, the Lightning like their group.

And a familiar group it is.

As Monday’s trade deadline passed, Tampa Bay stood pat, making no changes to the roster.

“Ultimately, there are things we could have done, potentially, that you pay a lot for,” Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said. “And our feeling is it has to make us better, not just deeper. If I’m going to pay for it, I want it to make us better.”

Tampa Bay’s better play of late, however, influenced the decision to stand pat.

The Lightning completed a set of three games in four nights on Monday by sweeping games in New Jersey, Boston and Toronto to extend their winning streak to seven games.
