TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning honored Jim and Celia Ferman as the 47th Lightning Community Heroes of the 2015-16 season during the first period of today’s game versus the New York Islanders. The Ferman’s, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, will donate the money to the University of Tampa, Meals on Wheels, Moffitt Cancer Center and Florida Aquarium.
Since moving to Tampa in the 1880s, the Ferman family has been fully committed to giving back to Tampa Bay residents and Jim and Celia are no different. Jim has been at the center of advocacy as chairman of the United Way Hillsborough County and as director of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay.
