Winnipeg Jets defenseman Elias Salomonsson will be away from the team indefinitely for personal reasons, head coach Scott Arniel told TSN’s Danielle Bain. Arniel did not provide a timeline for Salomonsson’s return and asked fans to respect the young defender’s privacy at this time. Salomonsson was a healthy scratch for Thursday’s win over the Vancouver Canucks and sat out of Saturday’s practice with what was initially believed to be an illness per NHL.com’s Mitchell Clinton.
It has been a rocky season for the 22-year-old Salomonsson. He didn’t make his season debut until October 25th, missing the start of the year while recovering from a shoulder surgery performed in April.
